| Bishop Carol P. Lloyd Bishop Carol Phyllis (Hewitt) Lloyd was born April 10, 1941, in Bridgeport, CT, to Mr. Phillip Hewitt (West) and the late Evang. Viola Hewitt (Washington). She is the third of seven children. She is the wife of William Lloyd Jr., and from that union was born two daughters Mrs. Loretta Denise Ebron and Mrs. Rolanda Venise Murphy. She raised her nephew Ja’maine P. Hewitt, whom she raised as her son, one son in-law, one daughter in- law, and nine grandchildren. She worked for Interstate Industrial Uniform for 12 years, and left as a supervisor, and 14 years retired as an Auditor from Warnaco, after her car accident in June 10, 1986. She was brought up in the church, as a young person by her Grandparent's the late Deacon John and Sister Golden Dozier. She was baptized at the early age of 8 years old in Jesus name. She started her new life in Christ Jesus at the age of 28 she received the Holy Ghost in 1969. She acknowledged her calling to preach in 1979. . Bishop Lloyd loves working for the Lord. She has put full time, into the ministry working close with the former Pastor the late Elder Wesley Jenkins after her accident 1986. She became the acting pastor under the leadership of Bishop Eugene Redd until she was installed as full pastor of Gethsemane Church of Christ, on May 20, 1990. She was ordained in June 5, 1992. She drops out of school in 1957 in the 10th grade and went back to school September 1980 to complete her education within five months; February 1981 received her GED diploma with a high score. Bishop Lloyd furthered her education with studies at Housatonic Community Collage, Bethel Bible Institute of Jamaica, New York, Aenon Bible College of Indianapolis, IN, Foundation Bible Institute Bpt, CT, were she received her Associate Degree and was the valedictorian for the class of 2000 many Certificates, diploma’s and degrees,.. On July 21, 1998 Bishop Lloyd started working for Bridgeport Community Health Center as a receptionist. Whereas on July 16, 1999, she left to work on a vision that Lord had given her to start a school for the bettering of the community and home for women and men. Bishop Lloyd worked with the school system on the Executive Board in Parent Advisory Council and the East Community Council. Bishop Lloyd has received a W.W.W award, WORSHIP, WILLING, and WALKING, in the Lord, and many citations, and achievement awards. Her years at Gethsemane Church of Christ, Bishop Lloyd was the young people president, missionary sec., vice pres., and pres., a deaconess, trustee board member, Sunday school teacher, assistant superintendent and superintendent, pastor aide pres., building fund president, treasurer, and choir director and pianist, usher pres., and young people's pres. and counselor. She accepts the great position and challenges to lead God’s people through His name to victory. She has worked in the church in many other areas such as a carpenter, plumber, electrician, and maintenance worker, she has worn many hats. Bishop Lloyd is a firm believer of the work of God and knows that God has everything under control. Her favorite scripture is Romans 8:28 and Proverbs 3:6. God gave her a vision to continue the work and keeping the doors of the church open, because it is a SOUL SAVING STATION. Gethsemane is called “THE PRAYING CHURCH”. Her life exemplifies her faith, belief and trust in her God, and serves as an example to those she loves. She loves her spiritual church family, as well as her natural family. She is a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, sister, aunt, pastor, and friend. She is a firm disciplinarian, stressing religious, moral values and the apostolic doctrine. She believes that she have been blessed to be a blessing. Bishop Lloyd was a member of the Connecticut District Council of the Pentecostal Assembles of the World (PAW) for 35 years. She loved working with in the CDC. She sang in the Missionary Choir, and she worked with the Christian Education Dept. As of December 31, 2003 the Lord had lead Bishop Lloyd to leave the P.A.W and to become founder of Gethsemane Deliverance Church of Christ, International Apostolic Faith, Inc. On May 21, 2004 Pastor Carol P. Lloyd was ordained as Overseer, Bishop Carol P. Lloyd In 2002 the Lord opened the door for the church to have a spot “Words of Wisdom” on WDJZ 1530 AM radio with Bishop Lloyd as hostess. She is the CEO of “CPL Ministries” 1:30 to 2:30 pm Monday thru Wednesday. Sunday morning host with “WDJZ Morning Dew” 7:30 to 8:30 am, and on Cable TV Channel 77 the host of “Woman of Standard” Thursday night at 10:00 pm. In 2007 she receive a plaque award for being a “Positive Example in the Community” from the Al-Aziz Islamic Center, and a Proclamation from John Fabrizi , Mayor of Bridgeport, CT for “Positive Woman in the Community” in 2007. She is now seeking her vision for a building to house the need of the vision God had given her in 1999. |
